| Sonia Isabel Gonzalez Medrano |
| Sonia, who has been a member of the Presbyterian Church for more than 33 years, was present since the beginning of the struggle for the ordination of women as governing elders within the National Presbyterian Church of Guatemala (1993-1998). In December of 2003, she was ordained as a Governing Elder of her church, and hence was the first ordained elder in the Norte Presbytery which had been one of the presbyteries most resistant to the ministry of women in the churches. Elizabeth Andrade and Miriam Pimentel are two women who are members of the Evangelical Mission Church Prince of Peace. They took different courses with the Women's Pastoral Program at Cedepca and are now active students in the Biblical Theological Formation Program. As pastor's wives, Elizabeth and Miriam know the great need for women to receive formation from the liberating perspective of Jesus. They've decided to start the very special task of taking the Being a Woman is Marvelous course to 1,500 women around Guatemala during three years. |
